At QNX, sustainability is not just about minimizing our environmental footprint: it is about creating meaningful impact through responsible action. As part of our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitment, we partnered with Envirocycle Philippines to launch an initiative that transformed awareness into action.
On March 6, 2026, employees gathered for Solutions for a Cleaner Future, an educational session focused on the growing challenge of electronic waste and the importance of responsible disposal. Leading the discussion were Cohen Harris, Director of Sustainability at Envirocycle Philippines, and Engr. Wilssie Sanchez, Commercial & Sustainability Engineer, who shared valuable insights on the environmental and social consequences of improper e-waste management, as well as practical solutions that organizations and individuals can adopt.
The event also marked the official launch of the QNX E-Bin, providing employees with a convenient and responsible way to dispose of obsolete electronic devices. More than just a one-day activity, the campaign continued beyond the launch, encouraging employees to donate personal electronic waste while the company contributed its own retired IT equipment and electronic assets for proper recycling.
What made this initiative even more meaningful was its ripple effect. Proceeds generated from the responsible disposal and recycling of collected e-waste were allocated to support QNX's community feeding program, allowing one ESG initiative to directly fuel another. By transforming discarded electronics into resources for those in need, the campaign demonstrated how environmental stewardship and social responsibility can work hand in hand.
The initiative reflects QNX's belief that sustainability extends beyond compliance. It is about making thoughtful decisions that benefit both people and the planet. Through partnerships like the one with Envirocycle Philippines, we continue to strengthen our commitment to responsible governance, environmental protection, and community development.

Angelo Balili, VP for Finance, HRD, and Corporate Planning, was candid in his opening remarks. The road to certification was uncharted territory. Admittedly, "we didn't fully know what we were getting into," but what followed was a demanding, eye-opening process that ultimately proved every bit worth it.
QNX President Michael Dionisio called the moment surreal. Achieving ISO 27001:2022 was something that once felt like a distant aspiration, yet here QNX stands today. For Dionisio, this certification is more than just a credential; it's a defining differentiator that sets QNX apart from the broader field of IT solutions providers.
Leirrand Ochotorena, QNX Cybersecurity Technical Lead, highlighted the strength of QNX’s performance, noting the company achieved a near-perfect rating with zero major or minor non-compliances. Internal assessments and dry runs had already exceeded the final benchmark; a testament to the exceptionally high standards QNX set from the outset.
Rowell Peña, Area Manager at IMSM, reflected on the partnership behind this milestone, underscoring his institution’s commitment to stand by every client and never let anyone fail, regardless of how long the journey may take. He also pointed to what lies ahead, with additional ISO certifications in view, particularly the much-anticipated AI-focused standards.

A Day of Hope in Baseco

On June 19, 2026, 35 QNX volunteers spent an afternoon in Baseco, Tondo, coming together for a simple but meaningful purpose: to give back.
What began with a prayer quickly turned into an afternoon filled with laughter, games, smiles, and shared moments. 200 children aged 12 and below received packed meals, snacks, school supplies, clothes, and toys. But beyond the gifts, what we hoped to share most was encouragement, hope, and the reminder that they are seen, valued, and capable of achieving great things.
Throughout the program, volunteers, community leaders, and speakers shared messages centered on the importance of education, making good choices, and setting positive examples for the next generation. Parents were reminded of the powerful influence they have on their children's future, while the children were encouraged to study hard, dream big, and believe in their potential.
One of the most memorable moments of the day came from QNX Chairman Angelo R. Balili, whose message resonated deeply with everyone present. Speaking from personal experience, he shared that he once stood where many of the children are today. He spoke about the importance of gratitude, perseverance, and allowing oneself to dream beyond present circumstances.
He reflected on QNX's own journey—from humble beginnings to becoming the company it is today, and reminded everyone that great things can grow from small beginnings when fueled by hard work, faith, and determination.
More importantly, he assured the community that QNX's commitment would not end with this event. He promised a larger and more festive gathering during the holiday season and reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting the community in the years ahead. For children who may one day need assistance in pursuing their education, he shared that QNX hopes to be part of that journey as well.
While we arrived intending to share our blessings, many of us left feeling that we had received something equally valuable in return. The gratitude, resilience, joy, and optimism we witnessed throughout the afternoon served as a powerful reminder of the impact that compassion and community can have.
The event was not just about providing meals, supplies, or gifts. It was about building connections, inspiring hope, and reminding one another that no dream is too big and no beginning is too small.
To our organizers, volunteers, partners, and everyone who helped make this initiative possible, thank you. Your generosity of time, effort, and heart created a day that will be remembered long after the games ended and the gifts were distributed.
